Background Story

Growing up in the heart of the slums, Joshua knew firsthand the struggles of poverty. His parents were unable to afford even the most basic education. Life was tough, and the dream of a better future seemed far out of reach—until Uwezo Uplift Foundation stepped in.

Identified as a bright, determined young boy with a passion for helping others, Joshua was enrolled into the UUF sponsorship program at the age of  7  in 2011 .Driven by resposibilty and ambition Joshua worked hard though Primary and Secondary school.With each year, his confidence and performance grew.

Joshua’s commitment paid off. After completing high school with excellent grades, he earned admission to the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) to pursue a diploma in Clinical Medicine—a field he had long admired for its power to heal and uplift.

Now, after completing his studies and awaiting graduation, Joshua is giving back in the most inspiring way. He volunteers full-time at a Uwezo Heath Center supported hospital, providing care to the vulnerable communities. His story is a full circle—a boy once in need, now serving others with knowledge, compassion, and gratitude.
